An Abeokuta high court has sentenced an armed robber to die by hanging, for robbing two persons of their possession at Kemta, Idi Aba area of Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The convict, Ogunbona Alani also known as “fele” was arraigned on a two counts charges of conspiracy and armed robbery.
The state principal counsel, Oluwakemi Lawal, had told the court that the convict robbed one of his victims of n10,000 cash, a mobile phone, atm cards and other valuables, in april,2014 at Kemta Housing Estate.
He also robbed another victim of her handbag, a mobile phone, a rechargeable lamp, a belt cap and a food flask, with a cutlass in the same area.
The prosecutor says the convict had earlier been discharged and acquitted of the same offence by an Ilaro high court in 2013, for lack of evidence against him.
The judge, Justice Abiodun Akinyemi in his judgement ruled that the prosecutor has established her case against the convict and sentenced him to die by hanging.
