Court Sentences Armed Robber To Die By Hanging

An Abeokuta High Court in Ogun State capital has sentenced a man to die by hanging for armed robbery.

The convict, Olugosoye Omoboriowo, was sentenced to death, for robbing one Adijat Ogunleye at gunpoint at Ita-Eko, in the State capital, in December 2013.

The State Principal Counsel, Akinola Owolabi, had told the Court that he dis-possessed her of a hand bag containing cash of 120,000 naira, recharge cards of different networks, and a Samsung handset.

The Judge, Justice Patricia Oduniyi, in her judgement, says the prosecution proved its case beyond doubt.

She found the convict guilty of the two count charges and sentenced him to death by hanging.

Earlier, the convict pleads with the Judge, Justice Oduniyi, to temper justice with mercy by reducing the jail term.
