Court dismisses suit opposing Hijab wearing in Osun schools

An Osogbo High Court has dismissed an application to stay the execution of its judgement, allowing Muslim female students to wear Hijab to public schools in Osun state.

Justice Jide Fatola in his June 3 judgement, had okayed the wearing of hijab to public schools in the state, leading to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) filing an application for the stay of execution of the order.

Justice Fatola ruling on the application on Tuesday, struck it out on the ground that can had already filed an application at the appeal court in Akure to challenge his judgement.

The State CAN Chairman, Reverend Elisha Ogundiya, had appealed to members in the state to remain calm, vowing that the body would fight the issue to a logical conclusion.
