A Federal High Court in Abuja has cleared former Finance Minister, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, of forgery of the discharge of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
Adeosun had resigned as a minister over the charge in 2018.
Justice Taiwo Taiwo, ruling on an originating summons on the suit on Wednesday, says that Adeosun does not require an NYSC discharge certificate to contest for polls or to be appointed as a minister.
According to the judge, Adeosun was not qualified to participate in the NYSC scheme, having graduated at 22 years of age in the UK, and being a British citizen.
Justice Taiwo also says that when Adeosun later returned to Nigeria at the age of over 30 years and acquired Nigerian citizenship, she was no longer eligible to serve in the NYSC scheme.
