Confusion has gripped Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, following a violent protests by one of its top leaders, Senator Iyiola Omisore, over the running of the party in the state.
Supporters of the former senator, who is a governorship aspirant, lowered PDP flag at the state secretariat in Osogbo, and set it on fire.
They also vandalized the signpost of the party at the secretariat, where Omisore and other PDP leaders were meeting.
Unconfirmed report say the senator may quit the party, ahead of the state’s September 22 governorship poll.
Omisore refused to answer questions from newsmen on the violent behaviour of his supporters, but the Director General of his PDP faction, Bade Kolade, said the former senator still remains in PDP.
The state chairman of PDP, Soji Adagunodo and PDP deputy national secretary, Diran Odeyemi, express concern over the violent behaviour of Omisore’s supporters.
