Ag-Dangote Construction Company has canvassed for the usage of cement in construction of roads.
The company asked government at all levels and engineers to switch over to rigid pavement for road construction.
Dangote Group’s Executive Director, Stakeholders Management and Corporate Communications, Engr. Ahmed Mansur said that concrete road is more affordable, durable, safer and stronger.
Mansur made the call at this year’s engineering assembly with the theme: the Nigerian built industry: building a sustainable structure with allied professionals, the ongoing engineering assembly of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
According to Mansur, the maximum life cycle of flexible pavement known as asphalt road was about 20 years, against 40 years or more for a rigid pavement or concrete road.
He said that Ag-Dangote is constructing the longest concrete road in the country located in Kogi State: the Obajana-Kabba road, while the 24-kilometre Itori-Ibese concrete road had since been delivered.
Another concrete dual carriage Apapa Wharf road is ongoing in Lagos. Please subscribe to our newsletter
