Chief Justice of the Federation (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, will henceforth approve all travels by judges outside the country.

Also, judges at all levels of court have been empowered to award punitive costs for frivolous litigations or delay caused by lawyers.

These are part of 13-points reform of the judiciary that the Nigeria’s chief judge unveiled at a programme organized by the Presidential Advisory Committee against Corruption at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Other legs of the reforms directs judges nationwide to sit in their respective courts from Monday to Friday from 9am to at least 4pm daily.

Judges of lower courts are also mandated to submit the return of cases they handled every quarter to the Federal Judicial Commission.
