Cholera claims 80 lives in Zamfara

Eighty people have been killed in a cholera outbreak in Zamfara state, in the past one month.

The state health commissioner, Doctor Suleiman Gumru, who made this known at a news conference in Gusau, says 500 others people infected by the disease are receiving treatment at various hospitals in the state.

According to the commissioner, the disease has spread to 10 of the state’s 14 local government areas, including Kaura Namoda, Bugundu, Maru, Maradun, Talata Mafara and Bakura.

Other local government areas affected by the disease are Burni Magaji, Zurmi, Shinkafi, and Anka.
