The implementation of the proposed Ogun state light rail project has been grounded to a halt.
From all indications, the project will not see the light of the day under the Ibikunle Amosun‘s administration which initiated it to fast track mass transit within the state.
Works and Infrastructure Commissioner, Olamilekan Adegbite, speaking on a Rockcity FM programme: ‘Daybreak Show’, said the post-Amosun administration could revisit the project.
He rules out the possibility of the Amosun’s administration going ahead with the implementation of the rail project.
The Commissioner blamed the stoppage of the implementation of the project on the failure of the Federal Government to approve the foreign loan component for financing the project, which has been provided by the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC).
According to him, the state government has paid its 15 percent counterpart funding of the project, while the project’s feasibility study has been completed. Please subscribe to our newsletter
