Three quick goals in less than 10 minutes of the first half helped Etoile du Sahel beat Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) champions Plateau United 4-2 in the first leg of the last preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
The Nigerian champions were playing in the tournament for the first time and got the difficult fixture as a reward for walloping Eding Sport FC of Cameroon 4-0 on aggregate.
Plateau United became the first Nigerian club to score more than one goal against Etoile Du Sahel in Tunisia since the defunct Julius Berger FC did that in 2001.
The second leg will be played in Jos next weekend. The winner of the tie on after two legs progresses to the group stage of the CAF Champions League while the vanquished will drop to the final qualification round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
