The Presidency has assured that tough measures promised by President Muhammadu Buhari during his second term will be in the national interest.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who makes the clarification allays fear in some quarters over Buhari’s comment.
Buhari in his first comment after winning the February 23 Presidential Poll, asks Nigerians to expect tough time during his second tenure.
But Mustapha answering questions from newsmen in Yola, explains that Buhari when he was confronted with 27 State Governments who could not pay salaries on assuming office in 2015, adopted tough measures such as bail out funds and paris loan refunds to tackle the problems.
He also recalls that Buhari’s other tough measures include the ban on importing rice through the land border, which according to him, had almost made Nigeria self-sufficient in rice.
He adds that ban on fertilizer import has also led to the establishment of fertilizer plants in the country.
