Buhari’s re-election in 2019 will pave way for Ndigbo presidency – SGF

Presidency asks National Assembly to fast-track passage of 2018 budget bill

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, has indicated that President Muhammadu Buhari will seek re-election in 2019.

Mustapha said the re-election of Buhari in 2019 will pave the way for the Ndigbo to produce Presidency.

He spoke on the issue, at the reception organized for the permanent secretary in the cabinet affairs office in the Presidency, Barrister Georgina Ehuria, organized by former governor Orji Uzor Kalu.

At the reception, Kalu had promised that Ndigbo will give Buhari 75% of their votes in the 2019 presidential poll, if he seek re-election.

He said “You made allusions to the fact that the South East would support Buhari.”

“Let me confirm to you that for any thought of Igbo presidency, this is the shortest part.

“I have been in this game in the last 35, 37 years. I can attest to it. I know what it is, I know the permutations. I know what is on ground and I am an election manager.

“And I can tell you without any fear, without any iota of doubt that the shortest path to an Igbo presidency is for Buhari to complete his tenure and now engage the Igbo nation in a decisive move.

“The act of negotiation that you have perfected in dealing with merchandise, in dealing with commerce, in dealing with entrepreneurship, must be brought to bear on your navigating your way to the presidency of Nigeria.”

Buhari has not confirmed that he will seek re-election, while former president Olusegun Obasanjo had cautioned him against joining the 2019 presidential race.
