Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari would still revisit the report of the 2014 national conference, with the purpose of implementing some of its recommendations.
Osinbajo speaking during a television programme in Lagos, said there are some issues in the report that the Presidency could implement without any form of legislation, listing the proposed state police force as one of the recommendations he agreed with.
The Vice President however said he opposed regionalism, while agreeing with fiscal federalism.
Also in a statement, the Vice President called for a deeper debate on the issue of restructuring of Nigeria, saying the concept is being subjected to different interpretation, meanings and purposes.
Osinbajo said different interests have been taking different approaches on the issue, and at times confusing the debate, and reducing it to mere political rhetoric.
