President Muhammadu Buhari has said those behind the killings in the fresh communal conflict in Kaduna State will not go scot free.
Buhari says they might have escaped justice in the past, but will be made to account for the fresh killings in the state.
The President vows to mete out severe punishment on the perpetrators of the act, while addressing top government officials, traditional and community leaders, security chiefs at the Musa Yar’adua sports complex in Kaduna.
Buhari, saying enough of killings in the state, pleaded with them not to allow Kaduna to become a home of violence.
He warned that violence divides the people and stifles the prospect of any community that surrenders to its tragic logic.
Buhari said he will, henceforth, monitor closely the police who, according to him, are the frontline force for communities against criminal element.
He asked police force to be vigilant, provide adequate protection for communities and do diligent prosecuting criminal elements to assist the judiciary in meting out appropriate punishment on them.
Several people have been killed including a top traditional ruler in the fresh communal clashes which began at Kasuwa Maigani and spread to Kaduna metropolis.
