President Muhammadu Buhari has directed the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, to gazette his declaration of June 12 as Nigeria’s new democracy day.
Presidential spokesman, Garba Sheu, in a statement said the president orders that his declaration should be published in the federal gazette.
The gazetting of the new democracy day is to be effected before June 12, when Buhari will preside over the investiture of the honor at the presidential villa, Abuja.
Buhari also conferred postmous national honor on late Bashorun Kashimawo Abiola apart from Abiola, Buhari also conferred national honors on Abiola’s running mate in the annulled June 12,1993 poll, ambassador Babagana Kingibe, as well as late activist lawyer, Chief Gani Fawehinmi.
