President Muhammadu Buhari has offered an amnesty to fighters of Boko Haram, willing to surrender their arms and renounce the membership of the terrorist group.
Buhari promised such repentant terrorists they will be rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society
The President, speaking while receiving at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the 105 students abducted from Dapchi School freed by Boko Haram, threatened to penalize top security chiefs if there is repeated case of students abduction in the country
Buhari also warned those politicizing the issue of security, saying they will be dealt with
Director General of Department of State Security, Lawan Daura expressed concern over comments by some public functionaries on the Dapchi students abduction, saying it almost scuttle the negotiations for their rescue.
Daura also said that security agencies were worried over reports on classified security information in the social media, which, according to him, also threatened the negotiations.
