President Muhammadu Buhari has directed security agencies and military to take the gathering of intelligence and sharing of them, very seriously, to effectively cope with the rising security challenges in the country.
Buhari specifically asked both the Police and Department of State Security to further develop their intelligence gathering system.
The President who issued the directives at a meeting with Nigeria’s top security chiefs at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, made this known on his Twitter handle after the meeting.
He asked them to always be ahead of bandits and criminals across the country, while promising them maximum support of government.
He also promised that all the suspects arrested so far for illegal possession of arms and ammunition, will be duly prosecuted.
At the meeting were Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, the National Security Adviser, Interior Minister and Defence Minister.
Others are the Chief of Defence Staff, the armed forces service chiefs, Inspector-General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of Security Service.
Also at the meeting were the Comptrollers-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Immigration Service and Nigeria Prison Service, as well as, the Corps Marshall of Federal Road Safety Corps and Commandant- General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.Please subscribe to our newsletter
