Buhari Declared The Winner Of 2019 Presidential Poll

President Muhammadu Buhari of APC, has been declared the winner of the February 13 Presidential Poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He defeated his closest rival, Atiku Abubakar of PDP by a wide margin of three million, 928 thousand and 869 votes.

INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, announcing the poll results on Wednesday, credits Buhari with 15 million, 191 thousand and 847 votes.

Atiku, according to Yakubu scored 11 million, 202 thousand and 978 votes.

The INEC Chairman says Buhari scored the highest number of votes cast in the poll and satisfied the provision of the Electoral Act

He adds that the Certificate of Return will be issued to Buhari at 2 pm today.

Buhari won in 19 States, including Katsina, Kano, Bauchi, Borno, Ekiti, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Ogun, Osun and Kogi.

Other States won by Buhari are Lagos, Nasarawa, Yobe, Niger and Kebbi.

For Atiku, he won in 17 States, including Plateau, Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Taraba, Adamawa, Abia, Anambra, Benue, Edo, Enugu, Delta, Rivers, Bayelsa as well as the Federal Capital Territory.

Meanwhile President Muhammadu Buhari has cautioned APC supporters against humiliating the opposition parties’ supporters for losing in the just concluded Presidential Poll.

Buhari reacting to his victory in the poll, says his re-election is for Nigeria’s democracy, while thanking millions of Nigerians who voted for him.

He paid special thanks to Asiwaju Tinubu for his masterful leadership as the Co-Chairman of his campaign organization, as well as Adams Oshiomhole, Rotimi Amaechi, and other members of the campaign organization.

The President also thank millions of volunteers, self-appointed overseers and canvassers for sacrificing their time and resources to work for his victory.

Buhari expresses sadness over people killed during the poll, promising that those who perpetrated violence during the poll will be prosecuted.

He also assures that security agencies will enhance their performance during the forthcoming polls.
