President Muhammadu Buhari has apologised to the National Assembly leadership, over the security checks at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday night.
The National Assembly leaders, including Senate President, Bukola Saraki, the House of Representatives Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, and other principal officers, on arrival for a scheduled dinner with Buhari, were asked to subject themselves to a security check.
When they refused to disembark from the bus that brought them to the Villa, the security officers say they will allow Saraki and Dogara in without a security check, but insist that others must undergo screening.
All the National Assembly leaders turned back and departed the Villa back to the National Assembly.
Buhari apologizing to them, later recalled Saraki and Dogara for the dinner, which took place later in the villa, while rescheduling the dinner for all members of the National Assembly leadership till Tuesday, next week.
Saraki speaking on the incident, explained that the issues leading to the embarrassing situation had been resolved and all the National Assembly’s principal officers will attend the next week’s dinner.
