BUDGET PADDING: Jibrin dismisses Dogara’s demand for apology

Former Chairman of the House of Representatives Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumni Jibrin, has dismissed the seven day ultimatum issued by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara to tender an apology over the allegation of padding of the 2016 budget levelled against him.

Jibrin said he still stand by the allegations against the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, the House Chief Whip and the Minority Leader, that they illegally padded the 2016 budget with N60 billion worth of projects.

Jibrin in a tweet reaction after the Speaker issued the deadline for the apology, said he is already liaising with Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to facilitate the investigation of his allegations.

The contentious budget padding delayed the assent of President Buhari on the budget bill for weeks, which experts believe partly affects the effective implementation of the 2016 budget.
