BUDGET PADDING: Dogara demands apology from Jibrin

The Speaker of the House of Representatives,Yakubu Dogara, has issued a seven day ultimatum to the former Chairman of the House Appropriation Committee, Abdumumuni Jibrin to apologize to him  over the allegation of 2016 budget padding levelled against him.

Dogara warned Jibrin that he would head for court if he fails to tender the apology at the expiration of the deadline.

Jibrin who headed the Appropriation Committee during the 2016 Budget deliberation, had accused the Speaker, Deputy Speaker, the Minority Leader and the Chief Whip, of illegaly inserting N60 billion into the budget bill.

Counsel to the Speaker, Professor Joash Amupitan in a letter to Jibrin described the allegation as malicious and demanded its retraction with an apology in the print and electronic media which published the allegations.
