Two Nigerians on the watch list of security agencies for smuggling illegal immigrants into the country have been arrested at Idiroko border in Ogun state.
The suspects were arrested by immigration officials while smuggling six illegal aliens from Benin republic across Nigeria’s shut border at Idiroko
The six illegal immigrants included two Ghanaians and four Malians
The state immigration commandant, Doris Braimoh, addressing newsmen in Abeokuta, says the two Nigerians who had been on the watch list, were intercepted by immigration officers, while smuggling the illegal immigrants across the border.
Parading the two Nigerians before newsmen, the immigration commandant, says their acts pose threats to the national security.
The commandant says both Nigerians will be prosecuted, while the six illegal immigrants will be repatriated to their countries.
