The army says a factional leader of Boko Haram sect, Abubakar Shekau, has been seriously wounded in recent air strikes by Airforce in Sambisa forest.
Army spokesman, Colonel Sani Usman, in a statement, said Shekau was fatally wounded in the shoulder in the air raid carried out last Friday, when Boko Haram leaders were performing Friday ritual at Taye village in Gombale general area in the forest.
Usman listed top Boko Haram commanders killed during the air strike as Abubakar Mubi, Mallam Nuhu and Mallam Hamman.
He said other Boko haram fighters were also killed or injured during the air raid.
