President Muhammadu Buhari has said that all those involved in the killing of eight persons over alleged blasphemy against Prophet Mohammed in Zamfara state, will be tracked down and prosecuted.
Expressing shock over the killing, Buhari said the incident was barbaric and unacceptable.
The president in a statement, said his administration would not tolerate any form of violence in the name of religion, ethnicity or in any guise.
Zamfara State Police Spokesman, Sheu Mohammed, said the incident started unfolding at the state polytechnic, when a mob of students attacked a student identified as a Christian, and beat him into a coma, for allegedly blasphemy against Islam.
He added that the boy was rescued from the mob by a passerby, who was a Muslim, who rushed him to the nearest police station for protection.
The mob later tracked the man who rescued the student to his home, set the house ablaze, and killed him and his wife, along with six persons in the building.
