Bishop Asks Abiodun To Be Ogun State, Not Ijebu Governor

The Bishop of Ijebu South West Diocese of Anglican Communion, Reverend Babatunde Ogunbanwo has advised Governor Dapo Abiodun against being a governor of Ijebu axis of Ogun State alone.

The bishop asks Abiodun to strive to always be the governor of Ogun State and not a sectional governor.

The cleric says he will be willing to protest against the governor, if he fails to live up to his expectations.

The bishop spoke while delivering a sermon during the country’s Fifty Ninth Independence Thanksgiving Service at the Cathedral of Saint Peters Anglican Church of Nigeria, Ake, Abeokuta.

He also asks Governor Abiodun to be wary of praise singers who are only interested in their pockets, adding that he knows politicians who always decamped to different parties after misleading the governors they once served with.

Bishop Ogunbanwo thanks the governor for suspending the #3,700 school levy which was approved by the Parents Teachers Association for payment in the state public secondary schools.

Appreciating the governor for the scrapping of the levy, the bishop states that education must be free to allow children of poor people to become literate.

Deputy Governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele who represented the governor, assures that the current administration will continue to live up to expectation.

The church service was attended by former President Olusegun Obasanjo; the wife of the governor, Bamidele Abiodun, Secretary to the State Government, Olatokunbo Talabi, and the Chief Judge of Ogun State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu.

Others were the Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, the Paramount Ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, the Paramount Ruler of Yewaland, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle, and the Dagburewe of Idowa,  Oba Yinusa Adekoya who represented  the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.
