BIAFRA: IG orders disarming of IPOB activists

Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase, has ordered the immediate disarming of the armed activists of the indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB), following their violent protests resulting in several deaths, including those of policemen.

Arase in a statement by the force spokesperson, Olabisi Kolawole, said disarming the IPOB activists, followed their attacks on police officers deployed to ensure that their Monday rallies to mark the anniversary of defunct Biafra, are peaceful.

The police chief said IPOB’s targeted attacks on policemen on official duty during the rallies, suggests they are planning an insurrection

Condemning killing of policemen by IPOB activists, he ordered assistant inspector general of police and state police commissioners in the area, to effect the arrest of armed members, and prosecute those arrested.
