Bayelsa State House of Assembly has passed a Bill empowering its members to enjoy life pensions.
The Bill, which has attracted public outcry, was passed after its presentation by the House Leader, Peter Akpe.
Under the Bill, a Former Speaker of the House will earn n500,000 pension every month for life, while his deputy will get n200,000 monthly.
Other 24 members of the house will be entitled to n100,000 monthly pensions each, according to the new bill.
A non-government organization, Socio Economic Rights and Accountability Bill says it will cost the State Government n20 million monthly to pay the Pensions Bill.
