Bailout Loans Deduction From States Allocations Begin Sept

Federal Government is to begin enforcing the refund of the three year old bail out loans received by state governments in 2016.

Also, federal civil servants who are yet to enroll on the integrated personnel and payroll information system will have their salaries withheld as from October, until they do so.

Finance Minister, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, made this known at the public presentation of the medium term expenditure framework and fiscal strategy paper in Abuja.

She says that her ministry will begin deducting the bail out loans from the September allocation of the state governments from the federation account.

Over #614 billion bailout loans were collected by 35 state governments to ease their financial crisis and pay backlog of salaries and allowances.

The minister explains that the over #614 billion bailout loans belongs to  Central Bank of Nigeria, and that deductions from the statutory allocations of the state government will be remitted to the apex bank.
