Ogun State Government has denied diverting the bail-out fund it received from the presidency, including the one for the state’s 20 Local Government to other purposes than it was meant for.

Secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, said the bailout fund was used for the payment of arrears of salaries and co-operative societies deductions from salaries to all categories of workers on its payroll and those of local governments.

Adeoluwa who made the clarification at a separate meetings with Heads of Administration of Local Governments, and offficials of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) in Abeokuta, said government was disturbed by the allegations that the bail-out fund, particularly those of the councils was diverted.

NULGE State Chairman, Ayuba Olatunji, speaking on a RockCity FM programme: ’daybreak show’, had alleged that the bailout fund received on behalf of the councils was not released to them by the state government.

Adeoluwa blamed such allegations on the communcation gap between the state government and heads of local governments.

He added that government even augmented the bailout fund for the councils because it was inadequate to settle their financial obligations to workers on their payroll.
