Ogun State government said it has received no fewer than 200 applications from the baales across the state, seeking to be upgraded into coronet Obas.
It also warns that its embargo on the installation of new Baale has not been lifted.
Local government and chieftaincy affairs commissioner, Chief Jide Ojuko, who made this known to newsmen in Abeokuta, said the applications of the Baales are at various levels of processing by the ministry.
Ojuko explained that, the list is increasing by the day, as every Baale now want to be a coronet oba in their domain, thereby compelling the ministry to carry out integrity and background check of all the applicants.
The commissioner listed other criteria an aspiring Baale must meet before being considered as a coronet oba, as including the size and economy viability of his community, his acceptability by his subjects, the support and the recommendation of his paramount ruler and other traditional rulers within the jurisdiction.
