ATTACKS ON OIL FACILITIES: Dickson cautions against military option

Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa state has cautioned against the planned resort to military operation to end the ongoing militants attacks in the Niger Delta region.

Dickson, who issued the caution after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presdential Villa, Abuja, said military option would not stop the militants attack s in the region.

The Governor said the military option would fail because of the terrain and the historic nature of the issues in the Niger Delta region.

Army Chief of Staff, Leuitenant General Tukur Buratai, during the week in Rivers state had warned that the military would resort to maximum force, if the various militant groups refused to join the ongoing dialogue by the presidency with major stakeholders, to end the attacks on oil installations in the region.

Hoping the ongoing dialogue would be yield fruits, the Governor said it is expected to bring out issues on which the stakeholders who would then agree on how to address them.
