Atiku calls for restructuring of Nigeria

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has called for the urgent restructuring of the country in order to make it function effectively and overcome challenges facing it.

Atiku, who made the call at a book launch in Abuja, said the federal government is too big and powerful in relations to other federating units.

Calling for the reduction of powers and functions allocated to the Federal Government, Atiku disagreed with those accusing those agitating for a weak centre, as canvassing for the break up of the country.

The All Progressive Congress (APC) top leader said the enormous powers of the Federal Government is making it difficult for the state governments to embark on what he calls exclusive initiatives for development of their areas.
