Assembly asks Amosun to Replace Commissioner

Ogun State Assembly

Ogun State House of Assembly has asked Governor Ibikunle Amosun to suspend the State Works and Infrastructure Commissioner, Olamilekan Adegbite, after exchanging words with members of the Assembly

The lawmakers asked the Commissioner to handover to the Permanent Secretary in his office.

Intervention by the secretary to the State Government, Taiwo Adeoluwa, who attended the plenary, failed to stop the lawmakers from passing a motion for the suspension of the Commissioner.

The house passed the resolution at an emergency plenary convened, following an uproar between the commissioner and the assembly members, who invited him and two other Commissioners to brief them on the deteriorating condition of most of the roads in the state.

Invited along with Adegbite, to also explain how some of the fund allocated for road projects in the 2016 Budget was utilized, are the budget planning commissioner, miss Adenrele Adesina, and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Commissioner, Jide Ojuko.

The uproar began when Adegbite who had been waiting with two other Commissioners for about 45 minutes, demanded an apology on behalf of others, from the Deputy Speaker, Kunle Oluomo who led 12 other lawmakers to meet them, for not keeping to the scheduled time.

The Lawmakers and Adegbite who called themselves names while leaving the committee room with the two other Commissioners, then went to the office of the speaker, Suraj Adekunmbi where they continued exchanging words for another 35 minutes.

The Speaker quickly convened an emergency plenary where the issue was discussed
