Army worried over rising security challenges

The Nigerian Army says its resources are being overstretched to the limit by the operations against insurgents in the north east region, the militants in the Niger Delta region, as well as, cattle rustlers and other armed banditry.

Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, expressed the concern at the inauguration of the Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

He said the military needs to optimize its capability to meet the emergency challenges facing the nation’s security.

Buratai, however, assured that the army in conjunction with other arms of the military would rid the country of criminal groups operating under the guise of militants and terrorists.
