Army To Deploy Troops In Ogun For Special Operation Against Criminals

Nigerian Army has flagged off a three month special operation to rid Ogun State of criminal elements ahead of the yuletide season

During the special operation, there will be presence of troops across the state, working with other security agencies

They will tackle armed banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, smuggling, destruction of forest reserves and reckless driving on highways in the state

The operation tagged ‘Exercise Still Waters’ was symbolically flagged off at the Centenary Hall, Abeokuta, by the general officer commanding army eighty first division, Major General La Fejokwu

The GOC, represented by the Commander of Army 35 Artllery Brigade, Alamala, Abeokuta, Brigadier Adewale Adekoya, says the exercise which kicked off on Monday nationwide, will end on December 24

Governor Dapo Abiodun, represented by the secretary to the Ogun State government, Tokunbo Talabi, promises that his administration will put in place measures to empower all security agencies to perform optimally in the state

The flag off ceremony was attended by heads of all security agencies, and para military organizations in the state
