Army Moves Arrested TASUED Students To EFCC

A group of students of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun arrested by soldiers last Friday, are now in the custody of the zonal office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), in Ibadan.

The army released them from its custody at Ilese army barracks to the EFCC, for investigations for their alleged involvement in cyber crimes and possible prosecution.

They were arrested in a convoy of cars near Connoil filling station near the university campus, while celebrating the end of their examination in the institution.

Rockcity FM gathered that a fleet of cars seized from the students had also been handed over to the EFCC in Ibadan.

Governor Dapo Abiodun while reacting to their arrest, had said that troops who arrested the students were on a special operation tagged ‘Operation Still Waters’ in Ogun State.

According to the governor, the special operation aims at ridding the state of various crimes, including kidnapping, drug trafficking, armed robbery and the advanced fee fraud.

The governor also said that EFCC will soon visit Ogun State for a stakeholders meeting with students and their parents, before its operatives will begin a massive operation in the state.

The confrontation between the students and the soldiers following the arrest of the students, had led to the closure of the university until further notice.
