Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has ordered troops engaged in Operation Lafiya Dole in Sambisa Forest, to capture Boko Haram factional leader, Abubakar Shekau, dead or alive.
Buratai also assured that 3,000 troops will be deployed to the warfront in the northeast region this week, to replace troops who had stayed long in the operation.
Already, army had placed a N3million bounty on Shekau, who is on the run with other insurgents, following the capture of the command and control centre of Boko Haram forces at Camp Zairo in the Sambisa Forest.
Speaking during a visit to Camp Zairo, Buratai, asked troops to consolidate their hold on the Sambisa Forest to prevent the return of Boko Haram forces to the axis.
With the domination of Sambisa forest, the Army Chief explained that troops of Operation Lafiya Dole will not move to the Lake Chad basin to flush the remnant of insurgents operating from the area.
He also promised the supply of new equipment to the war front to boost the firepower of the troops.
