The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), has urged Nigerians to mobilize their legislators at both the federal and state level to embark on a comprehensive constitutional amendment.
Speaking on Rockcity FM morning programme ‘Daybreak Show’, the spokesman of the umbrella group for socio-cultural organization in the north, Alhaji Muhammed Biu, said the agitations for the restructuring of the country are neither political nor religious.
Biu suggested that the best way to resolve the unending agitations is to put pressure on the lawmakers to work on a constitutional framework to pave way for restructuring the country, either through resource control, federalism or even regionalism.
The spokesman said the north has never opposed restructuring, but it is only disturbed by the manner in which the different groups are going about it.
He asked the different civil right groups, professional bodies and people in the constituency to force their legislators to embark on a comprehensive constitution amendment.
