Top leaders of APC have converged in Abuja for today’s crucial meeting of the party’s national executive council.
The meeting which is expected to be presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, will take a final decision on the issue of tenure elongation for the party’s national working committee.
At the last meeting of the council, the committee was mandated to set up a technical committee to work out the modality for actualizing the earlier rejection of tenure elongation beyond June.
Most of leaders who attended the meeting had opted for election of new officials from all levels to the national working committee.
The technical committee had submitted its preliminary report to the national working committee, which had held a meeting with members of the APC Governors Forum, ahead of the Monday’s meeting.
Ahead of the Monday’s meeting, the Adamawa State chapter of APC, has warned that the meeting be handled with caution.
Party leaders, according to him, should be careful so as not to push the party into a bigger crisis ahead of 2019 polls.
The state organizing secretary, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan, speaking in Yola, said the state Apc backs moves for a fresh national convention since it is in line with the constitution.
