APC state governors have resolved that the tenure of the party’s national working committee, will not be extended.
They asked members of the national working committee, including its chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to seek re-election at the proposed national convention, if they so desire.
The governors arrived at the decision after another round of meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday morning, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
On Tuesday, the meeting had deadlocked, as some of the governors still refused to buy into the view of the President, that the elongation of the committee’s tenure is unconstitutional.
Addressing state house correspondents after the meeting, chairman of APC Governors Forum, Rochas Okorocha, explained that the governors and Buhari at the meeting, fine-tuned the issues on the tenure elongation.
Okorocha said they agreed to hold congresses at all levels, leading to the national convention, at a date to be announced later. Please subscribe to our newsletter
