Ogun state APC has asked the State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to reverse its permit to the Labour Party Governorship Candidate, Mrs Modupeola Sanyaolu, to inspect the electoral materials used for the conduct of the March 9 Governorship Polls in the State.
The Former Governorship Tribunal led by Justice Chinwe Onyeabo, before its dissolution by the Appeal Court, had last April 8, granted the request of the Labour Party to inspect the Governorship electoral material.
But APC, through its Lawyer, Abeeb Ajayi in a fresh application before the new Tribunal headed by Justice Yusuf Aliyu, faulted the order on the ground that Labour Party did not participate in the last Governorship Polls.
Ajayi, in his argument to support the application, said the Labour Party did not have business inspecting the electoral materials since its petition before the Tribunal is purely on the issue of unlawful exclusion of its Governorship Candidate from contesting the Poll.
The Labour Party’s lawyer, Hassan Balogun, in his counter-argument, asked the Tribunal not to grant the APC request.
Justice Aliyu fixed Monday, May 20, for the Tribunal ruling on the APC application.
