Benue sets for a massive cut in workforce to reduce salary bill

Angry youths in Benue State have attacked the convoy of Governor Samuel Ortom in Makurdi, the state capital, in protests against the Tuesday’s killing of more than 20 persons by herdsmen in the state.

They stoned vehicles in the convoy and booed the governor.

Ortom had gone to placate angry youths who staged a violent protests against the killing, and blocked all roads leading into the city.

Soldiers had to be hurriedly deployed to engage the protesting youths, resulting into shootings.
