Anglican primate asks Nigerians to obtain voter card for future polls

Anglican Church Primate calls for tougher measures against corruption

The primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Most Reverend Nicholas Okoh, has asked Nigerians to register for voter card, in order to participate in the 2015 polls.

Okoh made the call at the eighteenth annual diocesan women conference in Abuja.

Nigerians, according to the Anglican primate, should not complain after the polls, if they fail to obtain voter card to vote in the polls.

“It is important for every adult who is of age to register because what most Nigerians do is to be absent from participating and after the event they start complaining.

“It is an opportunity for me to create awareness, speak to them and ask them to continue spreading the information to other women,’’ he said.

He explained that the forum provides an opportunity to create an awareness for the people, especially women to register for voter cards.

“Building the country is not just for people who are holding government offices.

“It is the work of everybody, and so we must encourage ourselves, men and women, boys and girls to take active part.

“Political consciousness is a very important aspect of nation building,’’ Okoh said.
