Anglican Communion of Niger region has banned members of the church from sewing ceremonial dress and printing of brochure during burial ceremonies.
Vicar in charge of Saint Andrew church, Obosi, venerable Ikechukwu Ihem-Huge, gave the order at a church service in Obosi Ndemili, Anambra State.
He explained that the decision was taken at the June 2019 synod of the church’s archdeaconry at abatete in Ndemili Local Government Area.
The vicar said the church had discovered that members were overstretching themselves in order to give befitting burial rites.
According to the cleric, a befitting burial rites in Christianity is between the people and their god and does not require frivolous spending.
