Governor IBIKUNLE AMOSUN of Ogun State, after a crucial meeting with leaders of Osoba APC Faction, has insisted on singlehandedly choosing the party’s candidate for the 2019 Governorship poll.
The Governor also insisted that the APC governorship candidate will come from the Yewa axis of the state.
Amosun, however, said that APC State Executive Committee will determine who picks the party’s tickets for other elective positions, ahead of 2019 poll.
The Governor announced this while addressing APC leaders at a stakeholders meeting attended by leaders of the Osoba APC Faction at the party’s state secretariat in Abeokuta.
Amosun said he has informed Osoba APC Faction leaders at a meeting held on Thursday at the Governors Office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, of his decision to determine who picks the party’s 2019 governorship ticket.
In attendance at the meeting were former Ogun Deputy Governor, Prince Segun Adesegun, Senators Gbenga Kaka, Akin Odunsi and Gbenga Obadara.
Others were Honorable Olumide Osoba, miss Bukola Onabanjo, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi, APC members of the senate and House of Representatives, State House of Assembly members, chairmen of the local government and local council development areas.
Also at the meeting were APC national Financial Secretary,Tajudeen Bello; the state party Chairman,Chief Tajudeen Lemboye , Senator Iyabo Anisulowo, and Pastor Remi Hazzan, as well as member of the State Executive Council.
Senator Akin Odunsi who led Osoba APC Faction to the meeting, said the reunification of Amosun and Osoba factions has ended the call for a third force in Ogun state politics, ahead of the 2019 polls.
Meanwhile, a seven member APC National Congress Committee that will monitor the Saturday’s ward congress had arrived in Abeokuta.
