Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State said he will support President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2019 poll, but opposes the state APC governorship candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun in the poll.
Amosun, who made the clarification at a rally organised by the APC in Abeokuta, insists that he will mobilizes resources at his disposal to ensure that Abdul Kadir Akinlade who had defected to Allied People Movement (APM) emerge as Ogun State’s next governor.
The rally had in attendance Akinlade, other APC members who had defected to APM, as well as APC National Treasurer, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, and members of the APC state executive committee.
Members from the Dapo Abiodun faction of APC stayed away from the rally.
The governor said he did not stop Akinlade and the 26 state APC state house of assembly aspirants from defecting to APM because they insist on holding on to the mandate they won during the APC primaries in the state.
Amosun again confirms that he will not defect from APC to APM, and will contest the senatorial poll on the APC ticket, adding that he still remain in APC to ensure that Buhari scores massive votes during the presidential poll in the south west region.
