Governor Ibikunle Amosun has further given an insight into his choice candidate, for the Ogun State’s 2019 governorship poll.
Amosun, speaking on the issue on Tuesday in Abeokuta, said his choice candidate may not be a member of his party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).
The Governor, answering questions from newsmen on the sideline of a news conference on the forthcoming Ogun State Investors Forum, said the candidate may not even be a politician.
What is sure, according to Amosun, is that the candidate will come from the Yewa axis of the state.
APC aspirants eyeing the governorship ticket from Yewa axis, include Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Suraj Adekunbi; the Governor’s Chief Of staff, Chief Tolu Odebiyi; a member of House of Representatives, Abdulkabir Akinlade and Honourable Isiaq Akinlade, a former House of Reps member.
The governor first gave an insight into his likely successor, at a close door meeting with members of the Ogun State APC members of National Assembly and principal officers of the state House of Assembly, last January in Abeokuta.
At the meeting, Amosun said his choice of candidate will be a dark horse, like Raji Fashola, as ACN candidate in the Lagos State’s 2011 governorship poll. Please subscribe to our newsletter
