Ahead of May 29 handover of power, political office holders in Ogun State have collected forms from the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) for the declaration of their assets.
The outgoing Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, is among top political officers in the State who have obtained the Assets Declaration Forms.
Amosun collected his Assets Declaration Form more than two weeks ago from the Abeokuta office of the Bureau.
Since early this month, the Abeokuta office of CCB has been besieged by public officers including those of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, as well as Nigerian Prisons Service to obtain and submit their Assets Declaration Forms.
Also expected at the CCB office are staff of Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta.
Meanwhile, the State Director of Code of Conduct Bureau, Mr Rabiu Elisha, said the Bureau was ready to prosecute civil servants and public office holders who fail to declare their assets as at when due.
Elisha, speaking in an interview with RockcityFM news correspondent, Funmilayo Olutoye in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, warned civil servants and public office holders against failing to declare their assets at the required regular interval.
He also asked them not to abuse the assets declaration process adding that all properties declared are still subject to verification by CCB officials.
He said all officials of all Agencies, Ministries and Parastatals in the State are expected to update their assets declaration every four years.
Rabiu added that political office holders were also mandated to declare their assets when they are coming into office and when leaving office.
