Again, Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, has promised to announce his choice candidate for the state’s 2019 governorship poll, ahead of the APC primaries.
The governor, at a meeting with selected leaders from the Ogun West on Monday in Abeokuta, said the name of the candidate will be made public on Wednesday, next week.
Amosun explained that the state APC, had agreed to zone the ticket to the Ogun West zone of the state, and that the APC National headquarters had been notified of the decision.
One of the leaders at the meeting which took place at the governor’s office, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Professor Anthony Asiwaju, asked people in the Ogun West, to vote massively for the candidate that Amosun will announce.
Other Ogun west leaders at the meeting, included Professors Dolapo Ayo Alabi, Biyi Afonja, and j. awesu, as well as Senators kola Bajomo and Iyabo Anisulowo.
Others were Chief M A Olagbayi, Alhaji Biyi Fadairo, the APC National Financial Secretary, Alhaji Tajudeen Bello, the state APC leaders, the governor’s chief of staff, Chief Tolu Odeboyi and members of the State Executive Council from Ogun West.
The delay by the governor in announcing his choice APC candidate, after several promises he made since last year, is already causing anxiety in the state APC.
The last time he made the promise was at a meeting of an extended APC state executive council held on the eve of the last state APC congress in Abeokuta.
At the meeting, Amosun promise to unveil his choice candidate, after the Ramadan, which ended last June 15.
