The Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to seek re-election in 2019.
Nigeria, according to the paramount ruler could not afford to allow the policies initiated by the Buhari administration to be discarded if another leader is elected.
The paramount ruler said this while receiving members of the National Movement for Re-election of Buhari, led by former governor Uzor Orji Kalu, who paid him a courtesy visit at the Ake Palace in Abeokuta.
Buhari, according to the Alake is a focused and sincere leader, who had charted a worthy path for the nation to transform it to an enviable height.
The monarch explained that in Nigeria, if a president leaves office after a one term of four years, everything he has achieved will be overturned by anybody who replaces him.
Those who drafted the constitution to allow for a second term, according to him, have envisaged that while a leader takes time to formulate policies and put programmes in place, he needs more time for them before they begin to translate to benefits for the people.
He commended Kalu for his message of love, and strong belief in the capacity of the Buhari administration to deliver good governance, asking him to regard him as a member of the campaign team.
Orji Uzor Kalu told the paramount ruler that he brought him the message of love, peace and understanding, adding that his strong belief in the oneness of Nigeria and good leadership, informed his ongoing tour of the South West region.
He urged the Alake to maintain his relationship with President Buhari.
